Here are some ways to inform the world about your web presentation:

Search Engines

One of the fastest ways to make links to your presentation available are through search engines. Registering your URL with a search engine is easy, and usually free. The popular search engines gain their revenue not through URL registrations, but through advertising.

Businesses on the internet pay for advertising to which users of the search engines become exposed. The bigger and more popular the search engine, the higher the advertising exposure.

Some of the larger search engines are:

Submission Services

There are services set up on the World Wide Web for registering web pages with the major search engines. A few are free, but most charge a fee for their services.

These services can be a great time saver, but may not register your presentation in the best categories on all search engines. In the end, it may be more useful to do the registrations yourself.

Here are a few submission services available:

Reciprocal Links

The primary method of web-surfing is linking between pages. Find pages which contain information related to your presentation's topic, and inquire with the webmaster about exchanging links (you link to their page, they link to yours).

This is especially popular with personal interest type web presentations, and not uncommon for business links as well. You can go to Netscape's web site and link to a wide variety of different business sites, not all of which are paying for the link.

One of these link pages at Netscape is the What's Cool page. This is where links to sites which Netscape considers showcases of the Navigator capabilities can be found.

There are also services set up like Internet Link Exchange where links are "exchanged" on various web pages through banners. Your banner ad appears on other member pages based upon the number of visits to your page.

Other Methods

Post an annoucement of your new site in the annoucements newsgroups, then look for groups which deal explicitly with your area of expertise. When responding to questions posted in the newsgroup, include your URL in your message's tagline. People reading your responses may visit your site if the quality of your responses look professional and accurate.

Be sure to include your e-mail address and URL on all of your printed business material. This includes advertisements, invoices, receipts and letter heads. Make your web site known!
