Step 2 - Create or obtain an image to use as an image map

Before you can define or use an image map, you will need to actually have an image to work with. This can be anything from a picture of some boxes to a photographic image of a room. Whether you make the image yourself or download it from somewhere, make sure the format of the file is either "GIF" or "JPG".

We're going to start off simple and make an image from scratch. Actually, I have already made one for you. Wasn't that nice of me? Click here to enlarge the image below. After enlarging it, click on "save image as..." and put the image "sample.gif" in the appropriate location (like your "A:" root directory).

Once you have worked out where the image is, move on to the next step.
